Where are Movie Templates in Video Pro X3?

dbanici wrote on 11/25/2011, 6:18 PM

I watched a YouTUBE video explaining Movie Templates in Video Pro X3.

It would have been so nice to have it, or the ability to create my own templates. However, I don't see this feature in the most recent version or even mentioned in the manual.

The video instructs to press the Instant Project button, which is not in available in my interface.

I do, however, have Movie Templates available on the start screen of Movie Edit Pro MX Plus. The Blockbuster template was installed, with the option to download more.

Is it really not available in Video Pro X3, replaced by better ways to save projects, or am I just unable to find it?

Thank you!

Hi

Have you installed the download version of VPX?

What happens when you click 'Download more' ?   I suspect you have not downloaded all the templates and effects.

John

The YT video you linked to refers to Corel Video Studio Pro, NOT MAGIX Video Pro X3!

Movie Templates are in MEP MX PLUS (and higher) but NOT in VPX3,  It seems (from a support conversation with Ralf at MAGIX) that VPX4 will be built on the MX platform so will, presumably, include these add-ons.  The complete download set for MX look quite "interesting".

HTH.

Thank you both, emmrecs and johnebaker, excellent answers.

Emmrecs: what is the relationship between Magix and Corel? The similarities are a little confusing. Are Magix products sold by Corel? Do they have a license to take your code and build their own apps? They promote an X4 product that appears to be consumer (not pro) judging by price. If these explanations would be available, it would make things much clearer.

Johnebaker: you were completely right, I have spent a lot of time downloading the MX add-ons and somehow I overlooked downloading the additional functions / elements for Video Pro X. Thank you.

Corel and MAGIX are two completely different and independent companies!  Corel is based in Canada, MAGIX in Germany.  As far as I can tell there is absolutely no connection between them; I hope you are not suggesting that Corel might have "borrowed" program code from MAGIX, or vice versa!

However, it is not at all unreasonable, IMO, that two such competitors would produce programs whose title, interface and methods of working will seem, on the surface at least, very similar.  In this case it is unfortunate, to say the least, that MAGIX make Video Pro X3, which is a very highly-featured "professional" video editing app whilst Corel make Video Studio Pro X4, with which I am completely unacquainted so can make no judgement on its functions, usefulness etc.  However, I can understand how confusion caused by the names of the two programs might arise!
