I did a search on Google and it appears if you ask 12 people, you'll get 14 answers! It seems to be very subjective with a lot of ideas (bright jazz???)
Perhaps you can check the presets for any media players you might have. For example, WinAmp has presets.
Of course, that just means it was someone's opinion. I looked at my KMPlayer's EQ presets and it doesn't even have a jazz preset.
Perhaps someone else in this forum can give you a real answer, but I loved your question and wanted to pipe in with my 2 cents.
There are no "general settings". As far as I understand you're working on your own sound?
Well, there is no "general" in music production. You shouldn't ask how to adjust your EQ, because this may be different from song to song.
First of all, you have to use an EQ on all your single instruments. The bassdrum shouldn't get in same frequencies as other instruments. If you can't avoid this, you'll even have the chance to use sidechaining....
You can't answer that question just in a few short sentences. Try to look for some mastering-workshops in the "Knowledge & Workshops" area.
If you are able to ask your question in a more detailed way, I'll of course try to help you.
