Web amendments

Added a new image to my website and selected publish, choose my hosting detail and selected publish however it hasn't updated my site and when I check my sites files area none of the files have been updated. What could be wrong. I have moved a lot of files around recently and wondering if that could be it.

Using Web designer premium 19 latest version

Thanks

Steve

Hi

. . . . when I check my sites files area none of the files have been updated . . .

I assume you used the Publish dialog WEB-FTP window or a FTP program to explore the web site folders?

Do the changed files appear in the local folder where the site is created in before uploading?

Did you leave the Optional sub-folder filed in the Publish settings empty?

Excuse me for being dumb but where would these folders be?

johnebaker wrote on 11/5/2022, 2:18 PM

@Stephen-Davies4967

Hi

Definitely not a dumb question.

There is no selectable setting in Web Designer that I have seen in the programs settings

By default, mine are in Documents\MAGIX\Web Designer Projects\XWD 19 in subfolders with the same name as the project.

Thanks John folders don't seem to be there so I'm doing re-install of the software. Have a feeling it may be down to me moving stuff and amending the partition of the drive so fingers crossed.

Unfortunetly reinstalling hasn't helped. Theres no Magix folder been created in documents and although I get the bar at the top right saying uploading towebsite folder it hasn't

Hi

Try searching your Documents folder for files that were created on the day you last tried to publish.

. . . . I get the bar at the top right saying uploading to website folder it hasn't . . . .

if the website is not a private one, can you PM me a link to it, and an identifiable change that was made, for me to have look at.

The website can be found at www.wirral-raynet.co.uk

The about page has been altered slightly by another photo being added over group controller here's what it should look like after the alteration

@Stephen-Davies4967

Hi

Thanks for the link, on checking the website it I can see it was created with WYSIWYG Web Builder 17.

Web pages created in Web Designer (WD) have a different file structure and support files that are not easily integrated into web sites built using other software.

There are 2 options:

  • Use Web Builder 17 to modify the website (easiest).

  • Completely rebuild the site in Web Designer.

Thank you I'll see if I still have the project. Your help has been so much help. I hadn't even thought of that

@Stephen-Davies4967

Hi

If you do not have the project file you may be able to import the existing website into WB 17 page by page, I would suggest you download the entire site to your PC using an FTP program such as FileZilla to try this.
