@1940, you can always download a trial version of Vegas Pro and see how you like it.
It sometimes comes down to personal preference and what you are used to. I cut my editing teeth on Premiere V6 many years ago when I come from DPS Editbay and before that, the Amiga/Video Toaster. I adjusted to each piece of software and considered it a tool. Learn how to use the tool properly and within it's limits, and I was fine.
I have VPX12 and MEP2022. But I also have a lot of OFX plugins, that although they show up in both those programs, they don't work as they should. In Vegas, they all work. Continuum 2022.5 Complete, Sapphire, NBFX TFX7, Ignite Pro 5, Red Giant Magic Bullet Looks, Spicemaster Pro 3, Mercalli Suite 5 and a few others. Now one might say that that is a lot of plugins. It certainly is. And no, I don't use them all. But when I need something, it's there. It's a toolbox. I don't always need a flat screw driver, but if I do, I have one with several different heads.
For "me", while I do read about the crashes people post in the Vegas forum, well, everything has crashed on me. Last night using Resolve 18 Studio (paid version), I aborted an upscale project and got the white screen of death. Resolve 18 is out of beta. I have had VPX12 crash/lockup several times using the OFX plugins. The same with MEP2022. But when those the complain about Vegas software are pressed, it mostly comes down to them and their hardware. Some have pirated copies, and others have genuine issues. My "beef" is the way Vegas now runs wild with RAM usage in it's current build. Not good. But crashing constantly? No.
But my hat is off to MEP's Infusion Engine 3. It does what is says in the advert.
You will have people giving their impressions and thoughts, and we all have our bias. Editing software are tools. Learn how to use them and no one will know what editor you used in finishing your video.
