VIDEO PRO X5 AND BLACKMAGIC COMPATIBILITY

I have shot footage in CinemaDNG RAW 2.5K on my Blackmagic Cinema Camcorder. All but one of the files appear in the folders as DNG. When I try to import them using Video Pro X5, they are not listed as available for import. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? Do I need to upgrade the software to X7?

Hi

This is because the RAW files are in fact folders full of RAW still images that need processing and then exporting as a movie sequence from either the DaVinci Resolve program that comes free with the camera or Adobe After effects or even Photoshop. Most NLE's can not handle the RAW files without this step and ProX7 will be no different. Depending on what you intend to do with the final movie you may just be better off shooting in one of the compressed formats like Prores or Quicktime to start with because all this will happen in the camera in realtime.
