I just adding key frames and changing speed. Starnge thig, if I do to same clip outside the project, it works, but ones  the clip between othe clip is not, just makes clip faster or slower, by the last keyframe setting[[VIDEO:cloud://]]

Hi

Try the following procedure (refer to image below) on a test project and video clip to understand how Speed keyframing works.

This example gives the following effect:

  • hold the speed ( x 1)  for a set time, keyframes 1 to 2
  • accelerate to new set speed ( x 2), keyframes 2 to 3
  • hold new speed for a set time, keyframes 3 to 4
  • decelerate to new speed ( x 0.25), keyframes 4 to 5
  • hold new set speed for a set time, keyframes 5 to 6
  • accelerate to new speed ( x 1), keyframes 6 to 7.

Method:

  1. Place video clip on timeline

  2. Place a keyframe marker (click white diamond indicated by yellow arrow) at the beginning of the clip (1)

  3. Position the timeline cursor to the time you want the set speed to hold to and place another keyframe marker (2)

  4. Position the timeline cursor to the time you want the set speed change and place another keyframe marker (3) - change the speed setting.to x 2

  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 as required - keyframe markers 4 to 7.

   Hires version here

Finished effect:

Note: -

If you do not place a speed hold keyframe the speed will ramp up or down between the speed change markers over the length of time between the keyframes.

Be careful when doing this as it can create a nauseating effect if done badly.

The above were created in Movie Edit Pro 2015 - the method is also valid for VPX.

My problem: I do so since years from MX to  2015

But in VPX 7 this do not run.

When I follow your way and set the keyframes: only one speed ist to see.

Than close the projekt and open it in ProX6: There it will run well with all keyframes

Hi Walter

Thank you for confirming that the procedure does fail in VPX 7 but will run in VPX 6 - a very odd bug.

Cheers

Hi

Just to add to John's tips on keyframing - if you click on the little Eye symbol next to the effect highlighted in blue to the left of the keyframe timeline a red line will appear overlaying the clip in the arranger / timeline with the KF's at the relative positions and amplitudes of the speed changes. This helps give a more graphic representation of the changes you have made and you can further alter the changes in time and strength of the effect by dragging the KF red squares with the mouse side to side or up and down.

Magix will need to fix the bug first however......!

To jonebaker

I`m trying to sort this out with Magix support. They say everything is working. But funny part I sent them screen video shot is not.

Keyframing works only then is only one clip in timeline, ones I`m adiing another one, keyframes are not resounding

Thanks to everybody fro responding to this topic

Hi

. . . . Keyframing works only then is only one clip in timeline, ones I`m adiing another one, keyframes are not resounding . . . .

Do you mean:

  1. That with one clip on the timeline and you set speed keyframes, it works as expected, when you add a second video clip, the first video clip loses its keyframe settings and /or fails to respond to the required speed changes?

    OR

  2. The second video clip has no speed keyframes and the first video clip still has its speed keyframes and works as expected?

Further to John EB's questions, I tested VPX7 version 14.0.0.144 with 4 sequential clips (3 and 4 are the same clip), each with kf's from speed 1 to 4 - 4 down to 1 and then the last two from 1 to 4 - 4 down to 0.25, as you can see in the image below. Files are .mp4 (HD) from my BB cell phone. As Walter pointed out, something definitely goes wrong. Even the speed changed from 4 as you will see in the video. Part of the last clip is truncated. However, loading the same project in VPX6 works fine.

For better image click here.

Note where the dog is in the Preview (left) and Source monitors. The dog is supposed to come right up to and past the camera, but doesn't (not her fault) as the video seems to be truncated. Changing the speed to 1 or 0.25 made no difference.

Now look at the same project file in VPX6.

Better clarity here.

Playback marker at same point but the dog is now close up to the camera, as planned, and then goes by. So there is definitely a problem with VPX7.

I did another test in VPX7. I removed the first 3 clips but without moving clip 4, same problem. Moved clip 4 to 0 on the timeline and it worked fine. Thus the problem seems to be with speed changes to any video clip that is not at the beginning of the timeline.

Here is the test.

Or for better resolution, click here.

I'll try to give this more time on Saturday. It is definitely a bug.

Hi everyone. Thanks for support.

Finaly Magix cofirmed there is a bug or so in the program then Nvidia Quadro cards used. Waiting for solution, I was not happy abot no info in sales process about Pro cards. I use good machone ZBook HP, plenty of power.

I have Cyberlink and they had mention about incompatible GPUs.
