I filmed video in hd and when I view it in the video easy program it is in hd but when I burn the dvd and then play back the dvd it is not in hd. What do I need to do?

I'm not sure what you mean.
The DVD standard output resolution is NTSC, 720 × 480 pixels or for PAL, 720×576. The DVD player then normally upscales the output to 1920 x 1080p. Blu-ray is 1920 x 1080p or newer standards include 4K.

Ray, thanks for the response. I'm a novice at this and all I know is I have a very expensive HD video camera that takes great video but when I burned the DVD the video was not sharp and kind of grainy. Somehow the HD quality was lost in burning the DVD.

If you need to commit to discs then your best bet is to record to Blu-ray that will allow HD to be recorded.
Unfortunately that would mean two Blu-ray devices. The only other way would be to put a file onto a memory stick and play it through a USB port on the TV. However, I'm not familiar with Video Easy and I'm not sure of its capabilities or even if it could burn a Blu-ray disc.
It's unfortunate but quite often upgrading something like a camera also often means having to upgrade other kit to cope with the files they produce. I have been through this exact cycle myself a few times.

Just to underline what @CubeAce has written: DVD can only ever be Standard Definition. It is a very common misunderstanding that DVD output can be High Definition; it can't. There is a type of DVD output called AVCHD DVD but a standard disc can hold only about 30 minutes of material and the disc requires a Blu-Ray player for playback.
As Ray says, for HD you need to consider exporting to BD (Blu-Ray), assuming VideoEasy includes this option
