video files become shorter after importing into timeline

Randomly, when I drag a video into my timeline, it's length is shortened. I can play it full length in Windows media player but But in magix, it insists that file is shorter. I have a clip that is 12 seconds long but magis will not allow more than 3.36 seconds. I cannot find a way to reset it to it's original length. other files are unaffected.

Thanks for the help

Hi,

Sounds bizarre. This is dragging into a fresh project?

Can you upload the 12 s clip somewhere such as Dropbox so that we can try it?

I think it was a problem with proxy generation. I deleted the ones that I had generated and then the problem went away. I must admit that the process wasn't clean and I can't say for sure that was the solution since I was not sure of exactly what fixed the problem.

Thanks for your response.

I had tried even renaming the original file but that didn't help.

After deleting the proxies, at least I think that is what is listed in that list obn the right(standard layout), it fixed the problem. I have had this problem before but only with video files from my Panasonic professional Camcorder with 1080P 60P files. Not sure if this is a coincidence or not.
