Upgrades

Hi I am a long time Magix user from music studio Deluxe 2003 ( and maybe a bit before then in earlier versions) My current version is Samplitude Music studio 14. I have heard that users were entitled to and upgrade to 15 from this program but I was never informed of this so never received it..
One of the confusions I have always found, about Magix programs, is the different names for different versions of the programs, which were used in different parts of the world, so it was always a bit confusing to know if you had the correct version of the software you were supposed to have.
What I want to know is, what is the difference between Samplitude Music Studio 14 and Samplitude Producer? They don't seem that different from the specs in terms of capability, except for a few sax instruments in Vita. One of the good things you took away in Samplitude 14(that was there in earlier versions) was the ability to create a noise print from background noise, and remove it from the track. Has that facility been returned in Producer? Is Producer compatible with a quad core Vista system? Can I load projects made in Samplitude Music Studio 14 into it and is there any special upgrade price on offer to existing Samplitude 14 users?
Thanks
Andy

This is a user-to-user page.

The Music Studio program began its name change from version 12, where it was called Music Studio 12 (powered by Samplitude). They skipped version 13 (I am assuming for superstitious reasons), and when version 14 came out, the name was Samplitude Music Studio.

Samplitude (www.samplitude.com) is a professional digital audio workstation (DAW) that is developed and published by Magix. The Music Studio program was always based off the Samplitude program, but had been brought down to a consumer standard to work with consumer hardware inside everyday ordinary PCs.

I know this, as I asked a rep once, and I was pretty excited about these changes.

Now, you are right, in other countries the software has different names. I guess that is to separate which country has what title or that it’s marketing’s need based on name description.

Regardless, now the Music Studio program is no more by that name, it is just Samplitude Producer; currently at version 11.5. This program is also exactly like the professional product, but yet, brought to the level of consumer hardware and PC performance.

The differences between them are vast in terms of how technology has improved the processing of audio, hardware updates and not to mention updates in the Windows platform. If I am not mistaken, noise print might still be there, just in a different location.

You can use quadcore but that really is not going to speed up many processes in the program, but it might do wonders for VSTi components. I am not sure all your projects will open, if there are features that you used in Music Studio 14 that cannot be replicated in Samplitude Producer, then those projects might not completely open (directx effects, VSTi, and mixer settings, etc).

You would need to contact Magix (305-722-5810) for any upgrade information.

The new Samplitude Producer 11.5 does not have the same Cleaning FX and Dehisser tools that Music Studio 12 Deluxe had. It is in their 527 page document, but that is a mistake that was verified by tech support. I purchased Producer 11.5 because a move to the Windows 7-64 bit platform caused the old software not to work. Music Studio 12 Deluxe will  work in Windows 7-32 bit. The installation is a little bit different, and it looks like it fails at first, but then you get a prompt to reinstall with other settings.

Hind sight being 20/20, I would have kept my old XP setup with Music Studio 12. Producer 11.5 is pretty much a dumbed down version, without the special cleaning tools. They have added on a lot of stuff that the average user would not use, but to me it is all smoke and mirrors to sell an upgrade(downgrade really).

Magix are at it again with their confusing naming conventions. I gave up on them and moved to Reaper, it was much more stable (if more complex top use) and I didn't have the driver incompatibilty problem I had with my old Magix Music Studio 14 but there were a few things Magix  Music Studio had that I miss.

Now they have sent me an offer for swomething called Samplitude Music Studio 2013... What is the difference between that and  Samplitude Music Producer Versions of the program???? I'm not even sure if it deals with midi editing???

Can Anyone shed a light?

Thanks

It seems there was a lot of confusion with the names for their Pro-audio software and the consumer line. They brought back the Music Studio title - I am thankful too.

The Music Studio line is consumer, Samplitude is a brand name for their professional line of Pro audio software. It does MIDI

I don't use MIDI, but I armed track 1 as a MIDI track and opened the MIDI editor there so you can see it has that capability.
