Under Effects, using "Auto-exposure" doesn't tell you what it has done

Hi everyone

. . . . Auto-color . . .

Where is this effect located - I have misplaced it in VPX16 ?

Edit:

. . . . Is AI Dehaze also in MMS2025? . . . It is, and it's a gimmick. All it does is drop the contrast.

It does more than this, reducing the blue levels and rebalancing the red and green channels and adusting white balance where required, to return the image to a natural look, it does have limitations as shown by the image below with high haze levels.

I posted in another topic on its use, and the good result obtained, however I cannot find it or the original comparison image I posted. Found the original image and redid the AI dehaze:

Hi John EB,

Auto-color is under Color - just above the colour wheel.

My recorded videos always looked good until I applied some corrective effects. Then I realized that they were not very good. Same with photos and audio.

I don't have the AI sharpen or dehaze, why am I missing these??

@jake-h

Jake, I'm on Movie Studio 2025, version 24.0.1.219 (a recent update). I don't know when the AI stuff appeared.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

System 1

Windows 11 v23H2 severely modified by Openshell and ExplorerPatcher

Hi John,

..... Even if you go back to Auto-exposure and press it more than once, it will no longer appear on the object or in the keyframe area. Auto-color will remain there.....

This is the same. Why this is the case, I have to admit I don't know. I never use Auto-exposure and Auto-color myself. But I strongly suspect that this is a BUG.

In VDL2016 it will change. See movie.

Greetings,
Rob

I've got VPX and it behaves the same as you have discovered, when I do Auto exposure and then Auto Color, the Auto exposure disappears.. However if you to Auto color first and the Auto exposure, the Auto exposure affects the image, but Auto exposure doesn't appear in the keyfrrame area.

I also tried to save Auto exposure as a video effect and then had a look at the file in Notepad, sadly is a binary file, so nothing can be inferred from that.. Not sure if these are bugs or done on purpose..
