"Transfer Video to Computer" button does not work

Using Video Easy 3D HD (download version) trial to see if it will work with my Canon Vixia HV30 camcorder.  Connected to Windows 7 laptop with Firewire.  When using movie/import video feature, the controls work to play the video on the camera (although with a bit of noise distortion in the preview box), but when I hit the record button, the video simply stops playing and nothing happens.  Any ideas out there?

The problem is Win7, it has been discussed many times on this forum. Search for "firewire win7", there are many posts.

Hi

As asoeli said it is a driver issue - you can fix this following thes instructions :-

1.  Click Start, Control Panel, Device Manager

2.  Under the Device Manager, look down the list for IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers and double click on it.

It should display something like - 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller

3.  Double click on the 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller

A window will popup saying 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller Properties

4.  Click on the Driver Tab

5.  Click on Update Driver

6.  Select - Browse my computer for driver software

7.  Select - Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer - this will bring up a list of drivers.

8.  Click on 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)    NOTE it must have Legacy on the end

9.  Click Next

10.  Once it installs the 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy), it will say Windows has successfully  updated your driver software.

11.  Click on the Close button and exit out of all of the other windows.

12.  Reboot your computer.

I have created a Tutorial with images for this - awaiting approval at the moment.
