Transfer AVI from After Effects to Pro X4

Tenacious wrote on 1/30/2013, 3:45 AM

Hi,

Regarding the process of importing files from Adobe After Effects to Video Pro X4....is it simply a process of saving a file in After Effects as AVI and then simply selecting this to place in Video Pro X4?

Also, are the files compatible the other way round, so importing a file from Video Pro x4 to After Effects?

Thanks

Martin

Tenacious,

A not answer, sorry...

From what has been discussed here before, AVI is a 'container' which can incorporate most any sort of video and audio format. Not knowing more I'd suggest exporting from After Effects in the same format as what ever else you are editing in VPX if possible, or the same format as your intended final export eg for Blu-Ray DVD.

Others may have more specific recommendation but the general rule is try and keep quality (pixel resolution, bitrate etc) at least as high as your final output and try and minimize file format conversions in between.

Hi Carl and thanks.

Ok, although I have saved and exported videos from Pro X in AVI format to view before, so isn't this a format then?

I'm no expert on formats and terminology, but if do know if you do an export as AVI from VPX and go to the 'Advanced' section you can choose from someting like 16 (that's in VPX 2.5) different codecs, and then different resolutions from 160x120 to 1920x1080. So, when you say you want to save from After Effects I assume you'd have similar choices and decisions to make. And then if you look at say bly-ray file format you find there are choices there as well.
