Timeline Cursor Question

Greetings,

I've searched the forum and can't fine an answer BUT my day has started badly and rapidly gone downhill and it's only 9:50am so it's possible I've missed it.

It's an "is it me?" or "has it always been like this and I've forgotten" or "is it just MS2025" type of question. I can't recall ever noticing it before and it happens all the time. I'm sure previous incarnations played "properly".

When playing the video that's on the timeline should ALL the cursor move or the arrow stay still and the vertical line moves?

I think I've discovered something. I have Audio Playback Driver set to "Wave Driver" and I get the 35/35.

Change the driver to "Direct Sound" and the 35s disappear.

How or why I don't know but it must be significant. Although I could be wrong.

It may depend on whether you are running any effects or not. Increasing the samples when using Direct Sound also effects that meter's output.

Sorry I am 'late' with my reply but I'm in my tertiary phase. (I could do this all day if it wasn't for the pain all down my right side.)

Well Ray, now you've messed up my thoughts. In your video you show Direct Sirect Sound as being selected.

On my system If I select Direct Sound there IS NO METER except for the CPU%.

There is if I use Wave Driver and no settings changes make any difference to the meter.

I changed the Audio Playback Driver to Direct Sound but still got the 35/35 display. @me_again maybe reset your program and try again.

Reset the program and nothing different - Wave driver 35/35, Direct Sound nothing, nowt, not a sausage.

I'm wondering if maybe it's because I have a onboard sound chip rather that a dedicated sound card?

I get the same as @Can-Dive, however the 35/35 takes a little longer, a few seconds, to appear with Direct Sound selected, my laptop has an onboard sound chip.

The numbers do also appear when playing an empty timeline as would be expected, even nowt, has to be rendered for playback.

You're right, they do appear after a few seconds. In my excitement I missed that 😲

The sound takes a couple of seconds but the % and 35s take anything up to fifteen depnding on the clip.

I think that's enough from me about this topi. I'm beginning to feel like Marvin.
