this is what I did to try to tranfer music that I created to a CD and it failed.

I clicked on "file" and selected  "Back-up disc" then "Manually burn selected files on CD/DVD" option. After that a grey and white box popped up along with smaller grey box with a set of instructions. I followed those instructions. I selected the files that I wanted to burn onto CD and then selected the "Start Burn" box. When the burn was complete my CD was ejected. I popped the CD into my CD player. Not only was there no sound, what ever was burned was only six seconds long.

Hi kersey2010. In the Premium version, you have the option of exporting the file to Music Studio, which isn't there in the classic version that you have. Creating a backup is not the same as creating an audio disc. What you can do  is export the file as wav for instance under File, Export, and remember where you are exporting it to.

Then locate this file, play it to see that this worked, and burn it onto an audio cd with whichever application you might want to. You could also use Speed 2 within Music Maker to do this.  Click on File, Backup disc, then choose the last option of manually choosing the files. Then locate the wav file in the Speed window and choose it.
