Text box size.

baz.stott wrote on 9/1/2014, 12:00 PM

I want to add a text box that contains a list of 5 words. When I try to add a title object the text box is about 5 times higher than the visible screen so that only one or two words are visible. No amount of draging and re-sizing will make the text box fit the screen.

I've tried adding 5 title objects with just one word in each but the maximum seems to be three.

How can I add a text box to a picture so that the text box is fully visible in the screen and contains all 5 words in a list format?

Hi,

Go into timeline mode.

Click on the object where the title should appear (i.e. object on track 1).

Click on the T button to create a title.

Type what you want with enter after each line.

Click the down arrow beside the font size in the Title dialog and drag the slider down or click on the number and change the size to something less than 40.

See below.

You can also drag the title box around the screen and resize it if you click on it. This will change the font size.

Thanks CB. I had tried most of what you suggested to no avail. Oddly enough, when I restarted my computer yesterday it (PhotoStory) worked much better and I was able to create a text box with 5 lines in it although the resizing didn't work and neither did the font resizing, that had to be done manually to get the text box to fit the screen as best I could.

There are obviously loads of bugs in the program and it frequently looses all the settings so that the text box needs to be re-created. It will be easier to add the text to the picture before its imported into PhotoStory. Animated text is a no go in that event.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Barry,

Which verson do you have? I have 2013 and the text boxes work fine.

Did you check for the latest on-line update?

Hi John, I have 2013 Delux too (version 12.0.3.80) I've just reopened the file I'm working on and everything is as I left it which is a bonus.

I've created a few other files in the past but they had no text boxes other than the opening title although I did give up on one because it wouldn't behave. I guess I'll have to find work-arounds when I get the time!

Thanks for your help.

Hi

By any chance would you be creating the titles in Word and then copy and pasting them into the Title dialog?

If so this can cause the problems which you are getting.

John
