My sound is not in synch with my picture,on any recording the sound starts maybe a second behind the picture and gets worse as the recording goes on.How do I cure this?
Go to the timeline view. This is the view where you can see the individual video and audio tracks with the timing.
Right click on the MPEG track and the options in the pop-up menu says:

| Create (new) frame table

| Scene recognition... Shift+Z
| Image Stabilization.. Shift+K
| Trim transition ... N
and so on
Cick on "Create (new) frame table"
It may take a while to make the new frame table, so be patient.
It Makes one wonder why it's first in the list, also seperate from the other options ... maybe it's important.

Other brand video editors do not seem to have this problem, so there may be someway of fixing the problem internally without resorting to this time consuming fix.
