Sending a photo in a gallery to a template page for purchase

Arnie-Schuster wrote on 8/16/2020, 7:37 PM

I'm using Web Designer Premium latest version. I have a gallery of photos and when the user clicks on one I would like to be able to "send" that photo to a template page so they can select a size, other options to Buy it. See example of what I want to do at https://www.douglasparks.com/Purchase

Can I do this with Xara Web Designer Premium and if so how?

Thanks

Arnie

@Arnie-Schuster

Hi Arnie and welcome to the forum.

Web Designer does not have a widget for e-commerce built in - it can use Ecwid a third party e-commerce provider - see here for more information - the website you linked to also uses a third party solution which is aimed at art and artists.

Thanks for the welcome. I know about the shopping cart widget. I was wondering about the ability when a gallery image is clicked sending it to another page or template with details about the pic, a larger view of it, and choices for ordering, before passing it to the cart. Thank you.

@Arnie-Schuster

Hi Arnie

I have had a further look at what you are wanting to do and I cannot find any other widget other than the one I linked to, it is more than just a shopping cart widget - it is the entire shop system - check it out at ecwid.com.

The alternative is to use other software, such as jAlbum, to create the gallery and shopping cart system on the same host and link into it from your main web site.

The difficulty then is matching the styles unless the gallery/sales side is made to look like an independent 'venture' - this would avoid trying to match the styles and layout of the gallery and the main site.

There is a demo here - scroll down a little to get to the selling section - and the tutorials here. If you decide to go down this route then I would advise going through the tutorials etc before committing.

I use jAlbum for all my albums for video and images, however I do not sell and the site is private.

Thank you John. I will take a look at the shopping cart widget...I really like xara for everything else, but I’ll also take a look at iAlbum.

i appreciate you taking the time to respond so quickly. Best to you.
