Recsue Your Video Tapes version 4.0 codecs and no playback

I bought my version about 18 months ago and have only just used it since upgrading my system to windows 7. I can play around editing it but it wont let me play saying something about not finding the codec used to create it. So; I've been searching around this site looking for the answers, as apparently my version's now too old to contact free.

I have my serial number it's this computer ID number that at present seems to be the issue. I've tried re-registering it, making up numbers using email variations- all sorts. Am very frustrated with the service now. It should be simple.

Help, please!

Hi

We need more information - what is the full message that is being displayed about a codec missing.

What type of files are you putting, or trying to put, on the timeline?

If they are mov files then you need to install Quicktime or update it to the latest version.

John

Thanks for responding. What seems to have happened is that in the past I'vecreated little whole projects and been able to access them after finishing them. In this case I've been making a compilation over time and it's when I've tried to view the unprocessed video clips is when I've had the problem.  I've now been able to view a little practice film pulling scenes together that plays by DVD, which I'm happy about, although it's not been plain sailing trying to understand encoding issues.

So I guess the issue lies with me!
