RAW image support

PhotoEnthusiast42 wrote on 11/24/2019, 7:39 PM

I stopped using this program because it kept crashing when I entered a directory with RAW image files (CR2 & RAW). Is this supported yet, or are there plans of supporting it any time in the future?

I have such a large number of raw files that crashing when the program sees these files makes the program non-functional for me. I loved the program until I started having those problems.

@PhotoEnthusiast42

Which exact version of PM are you running? The latest is 13.1.1.12.

I have this version and just opened it and pointed it at my directory where all my Canon .cr2 files are stored. It opened that directory, and its sub-folders, and showed thumbnails of the images, without any problem or hesitation!

So, the fact that yours crashes on RAW files is clearly not a "program fault"! However, I do accept that not all RAWS are created "equal". It is entirely possible that the particular ones you have include "something" that PM does not like.

From my participation in various photo-editing software forums I know that RAW image development is a real "minefield". Speaking personally, I would not normally use PM to "look at/develop" my .cr2 images but rather Canon's own DPP software, exporting from there as .tiff to then manipulate in other editing programs.
