Problems importing digital Hi8 videos to computer

I am having problems transferring digital Hi8 videos to my computer.
- Images are being imported however they are in black and white
- there is no sound
- whilst I've selected automatic scene recognition the scenes are not being separated.

I'm using Rescue your Videotapes! Version 2.0

System details are as follows:
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 5.1.2600
Intel Pentium M Processor 1.70 GHZ
Disk capacity 75GB
Available 38GB
2 GB RAM

Source device is a Sony Digital8 Handycam
Model DCR-TRV110E PAL

I don't know "Rescue your Videotapes", but do you use Firewire cable for the job? Nothing else works with that camera, as far as I know.

Firewire and this Sony model work perfectly together. Check cables etc....
I still use this model for my older Hi8 videos.
