Problem after burning CD - Computer has to be rebooted

I am on the last day of my trial period of Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 16 DeLuxe, and will be happy to purchase this product if this problem can be overcome.

I record and edit from my keyboards completely satisfactorily.  I then burn a CD of my recording, and that is when the problem manifests.

My Computer locks up. The hard drive 'busy' light on my PC stays on and I have to reboot to clear it.

The drive has just been reformatted, and is otherwise working perfectly.

I am using Windows XP Pro, and all software is genuine.

Is this a known problem, and is there a fix please?

Many thanks - John Carey

It could be many things actually.

If you have reinstalled Windows, make sure you have all updates. You should also have updates for the firmware of the burner itself, making sure that nothing there was eliminated and or that it is up to the latest driver protocols for the hardware.

If you have other burning software installed, make sure it does not run from start-up. Many software companies are using these start-up techniques. This means, when you turn on your computer, these programs start as Windows boots up. They take valuable resources away, and could cause a conflict with other software.

If you look at the MSCONFIG from the "Start" button and "Run" function of Windows then look into the tab that says "Start-up" then you will see a list of programs that start when you press power. Any one of those could be a culprit.
