Clarity would help. But, I will take a stab. I have no problems getting my photos from my camera into my computer, but I don't use PhotoManager to do it. My camera came with its own software for this, as did my video camera.
I then use Photo Manager to quickly view and organize photos, videos (except mts files) and even audio files into albums and to sort them by category into the database to make it easier to create slide shows and videos by opening the category from the PhotoManager database in PhotoStory or Movie Edit Pro.
I have no problem uploading photos from my computer to my online album or anywhere else that I choose.
If you are having trouble downloading from your camera to your computer using PhotoManager and you want help, then give us some details, like camera details, computer specs, operating system, version of PhotoManager, and describe clearly what you have done so far and where the problem occurs. Include a question that comes with punctuation, like a question mark at the end.
If your intent is just to complain, then say so and we will not waste our time trying to help.
. . . . I simply asked, how from there do I take photographs from the camera to my albums...something I would have thought would be quite basic... . . . .
While your problem may appear to be 'quite basic' until we have the required information asked for we would only be guessing. Some lower end cameras use the USB for connecting to a computer for charging the camera only and not for data transfer
. . . . was purchased along with your software. . . . .

Assuming you have installed the software that came with the camera, when you plug the USB cable into the camera and computer, the camera should appear as another disc drive in Windows Explorer from which you can copy and paste the photos into your computer.
If it fails to appear and the software is installed then the camera may be faulty or there is an issue with Windows XP or the computer..
An alternative option is to remove the memory card from the camera and use a card reader connected to the PC to copy the files from the card to the PC.
You should find this information in the user manual for the camera.
If I understand correctly, PhotoManager is one of the programs that came bundled with your camera. Magix does not make or sell cameras along with its software.
As indicated by John EB, the software to connect your camera to the computer will be something else on the CD. It is not PhotoManager. I suggest that you review the installation procedures in the instructions or manual that came with the camera. A driver is usually installed in order to be able to connect to the camera. Often in XP this driver has to be installed before connecting your camera.
If your computer cannot detect the camera, then neither will PhotoManager.
