Photostory Deluxe 2018 version 17.1.4.152 - Travel Route

koshi wrote on 12/31/2020, 5:37 PM

This version does not support Travel Route applet. There is a java script error. There was an earlier post with a similar issue, suggesting moving to 2021 release. any option other than that? any way to back out update? Any technical hint as to where the problem may be occurring is most appreciated.

@koshi

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

The problem is occurring because Goggle changed its maps .api and your version cannot connect to it. There is nothing that Magix can do to resolve this in your version of the app, sorry.

Your only option, if you wish to use TRA, now called Magix Travel Maps, is to update.

changes to maps used by Travel route plugin make using this great feature unusable.

As an alternative, can i import a map to continue using Travel route?

if it is possible, please detail the method to import, map format?

Hi

. . . . .changes to maps used by Travel route plugin make using this great feature unusable . . . .

In what way are they unusable?

There are more choices now compared to the old TRA.

. . . . please detail the method to import, map format . . . .

Did you not see this option?

The formats supported are in the dropdown just above the buttons bottom right of the Open map dialog - depending on the area you want to cover the image files may need to be extremely high resolution - as an example my European map covering Europe from the UK to Northern Italy has a resolution of 24000 x 24000 pixels ( file size of 328.5 MB) to enable zoom in to the detail level shown below.

Thank you John Baker for your input on the Travel Maps applet.

Regarding unusable, the issue using the older TRA is that a java script execution error occurs. No maps are loaded. No travel animation wvm can be generated. I am hopeful that updating to 2021 is not the only solution.

I am asking anyone for an alternate way to load a map into this applet to be able to create the animation. any detail of the map input file format, & how to load them.

I hope this clarifies my issue. thank you

Hi

My apologies, I thought you was referring to the new Travel Maps with respect to the limited usability.

The old TRA is now obsolete and, IIRC, did not have the capability to load maps from local sources - I cannot check because my old TRA does not work on Windows 10 20H2.

The only option is to either use the new Travel maps or other similar software or the (IMO) last ditch option Google Earth.

Did you try this? (I didn't, but it might work.)

1.- Close the alert window.

2.- The route creation module opens on a blue card and no map data.

3.- Zoom out the view on the map using mouse wheel to have the world map visible.

4.- Zoom again on the area where you want to complete your route.

5.- Add points manually, clicking on the area on which you want to create a point, and then continue by manually adding successive points.

Note that the search for places no longer works.

thank you john baker.

Hi Browj2. I did try to zoom out but will try again. it is possible I did not zoom out enough. adding waypoints manually is not an issues. it may be a few days as I will not have the laptop with me. fingers crossed, it will work.
