Hi

We need more information:

  1. Computer specification - processor make/model, graphics card or chipset, RAM,  hard drive configuration, sizes and free space?

  2. Windows version and is it up to date?  Press and hold down the Windows key and the R key - in the dialog that opens type in winver and press enter.

  3. Software full name and version number - as found under Help, About . . .

  4. Format and resolution of the video on the timeline

  5. A screen shot of the timeline may help.

Also please read this post before replying and add any other information you think may be relevant.

Hi

Thanks for the information.

For item 4, Format and resolution of any video on the timeline -

what is the video file type and the resolution eg mp4, mov, avi and 720 x 576, 1920 x 1080?

Or if you are using images what type, eg jpg, png, etc and resolution are they?

Item 5 - we do not actually see the timeline in the image.

If you are using storyboard mode -

switch to timeline mode

so we can see what the arrangement looks like eg

From the image you posted, are you using the Picture in Picture effect, also what other effects are you using?

Thanks

Hi, Item 4 - Each image has a different resolution based on the crop factor, so there are various sizes.

Item 5) I have attached another image for your use.

Not able to give the video type as its still in the storyboard and its the preview that is horrendously slow.

Am I able to have a refund as I am massively disappointed with the time and effort I am having to give to this product? I have use 2013 without any issues and will just continue with that. I thought this upgrade would offer more speed, but to be honest its taken more of my time than I can afford!

Hi

From what I can see on the timeline image leads me to suspect that what you are seeing in the preview playback is jerkiness or stuttering.

This is a common result of using some of the Collage effects, in your case I think is is the one labelled [ >] 3 Obj 05, one of several effects known to cause the previewing issue due to its complexity, whether using all still images, video or a mixture of both. The playback jerkiness is worse if the video is Full HD even on a 4 core processor.

I do not think this is a specific issue with Photostory 2018, because the same behaviour is also seen with Movie Edit Pro and Video Pro X for effects/collages which are complex or cannot use hardware acceleration.

In Photostory you cannot see the complexity of the collage, it is presented as a single object.

Here is the same collage in Video Pro X with made with just 6 images.

as you can see it is quite complex and the processing required cannot keep up with the playback spped, hence the jerkiness/stuttering.

. . . Not able to give the video type as its still in the storyboard and its the preview that is horrendously slow. . . .

What camera was the video taken with?

Hi, I have 2013 Deluxe and never had these issues with this product, so I upgraded to what is 'supposed' to be a faster option to find this is not the case. As this sounds like you won't be able to resolve this issue, can you please advise how I can get fully refunded as this product is clearly not fit for purpose. Many Thanks,Dan

Hi

. . . . I have 2013 Deluxe and never had these issues with this product . . .

Have you tried to load the same project into PS 2013?

Does exhibit the same behaviour as in PS 2018?

Have you compared the settings you use in 2013 with those in 2018?

Are you comparing like for like ie the same image sizes and video?

As I asked before - what camera was the video taken with?

. . . . As this sounds like you won't be able to resolve this issue, can you please advise how I can get fully refunded as this product is clearly not fit for purpose . . . .

Hi - I have tried everything you have said before getting in contact, but still no joy. BTW, there is no videos, it is simply pictures and as previously stated, I am doing nothing different than I did in 2013! - Pictures, as always are taken with a Canon 5d Mkii and as always, this has not produced ANY problems in 2013.

I have asked numerous times for a refund as you appear to be unable to fix the problem, and if you read the messages above, it appears the software has known issues. Can you please provide me with a full refund as I am really unhappy about all the time I am having to put into a product that fails to deliver what it promises. Can you please respond to this ASAP.
