@Michelle-Rodgers

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

Issues with photos randomly moving after the pictures have been copied and pasted to the desired order

Not a lot of information here, not even details of exactly which version of PS Deluxe you have!

Obvious questions perhaps, but are you regularly saving your project? What "random movements" are you seeing? When do they occur? Also, please define "random movements".

Please help us to help you by giving as much detail of the problem as you can.

I'm using PS Deluxe V16.1.4.86. Yes, I'm saving the project every before and after moving photos from one place to another. "Random Movements" for example: I move pictures 145-150 between picture 56 & 57, and when the pics are copied to that location, picture 100 jumps between picture 45 & 46 and sometimes picture 58 would moved to where picture 145 was located. The crazy thing is when I get the pictures in the order desired and save the project and close the application and reopen to work on the project the pictures were as if I've never moved pictures 145-150 to the new location.

@Michelle-Rodgers

Thank you for the additional information.

First, the latest version of PS Deluxe is 20.0.1.62, so your version 16 is now rather old. I'm not even sure that it was designed to run under Win 10 (assuming that that is the Windows version you have), especially any recent build of that OS.

I honestly have no idea why, when reopening a saved project, the previously-moved pictures seem to have reverted to where they were previously, but I do wonder whether your project file (which is, essentially, nothing more than a series of instructions) has become somehow corrupted. Have you tried saving the project with a completely new name? Does this then open with all the images "where they should be"?

When it first started randomly moving of pics, I deactivated the software that I had installed on Windows 7 and loaded on Windows 10. I have saved as different names but not a completely new name. I will try that and let you know.

Hi Jeff

Photostory version 16.x.x.x is Photostory 2017 which was certified for Windows 10.

@Michelle-Rodgers

Hi

Did you start the project using the Photostory Wizard?

When moving the images around were you in Storyboard or Timeline mode?

What is you Mouse mode set to when you move the images?

Can you also clarify -  I move pictures 145-150 between picture 56 & 57, and when the pics are copied to that location  - as moving an image does not copy it and can you detail how you are moving the images.

I did not use the Photostory Wizard. I was moving pictures in the timeline mode. I was working off a laptop and was not using a mouse just the touch pad, which I've always used in the past with no problem. Clarify moving... I clicked on each photo that I wanted to move and these pictures had a blue highlight around the frame of the picture and a check mark in the top left of the box, once they were in a bold like frame I would drag them to the location of where I wanted them placed and once I got the red line (which had a triangle on top and bottom of the red line) to where I needed them placed I would drop them. When the dragging and dropping wouldn't work consistently I would cut, buy marking the pics where they were highlighted in blue with a check mark on the top left corner, then I would click edit and cut and moved to the desired location and click on the space that I wanted the picture pasted to and click edit paste.

This is working in Storyboard slide sorter mode ie

The indicate icon is showing which mode you will go to when you click it - the image below is timeline mode

Both modes work well for sorting, and timeline gives you more control when adding music and doing effects like Picture in Picture.

I suspect the issue may be with using the Mouse pad, I find they are temperamental when trying to drag objects around, have you tried drag and drop using a mouse connected to the laptop?.
