Photo Manager - Google Error: "This app is blocked"

RayP wrote on 2/22/2024, 4:36 AM

Does anyone know how to resolve this error please when trying to import from Google - I have checked 'Less secure apps & your Google Account - Google Account Help' and it says

'If an app or site doesn’t meet our security standards, Google might block anyone who’s trying to sign in to your account from it. Less secure apps can make it easier for hackers to get in to your account, so blocking sign-ins from these apps helps keep your account safe.

If an app uses less secure sign-in technology, you might not be able to use it with your Google Account'.

Does anyone know if there is a fix as this suggests the Cloud Import function of Photo Manager is un-useable?

Hi

. . . . If an app uses less secure sign-in technology, you might not be able to use it with your Google Account'. . . . .

Apologies for the delay in responding, I am having issues trying to re-install version 13.1.1.12 for testing.

The issue with Photo Manager is most likely due to Google changing their security protocols or are blocking more programs which they consider a 'security risk'

So I'm right to think the Cloud Import function of Photo Manager is un-useable - is that likely to remain the case for the foreseeable?

@RayP

Hi

Cloud Import is unusable with Google Drive, however, not that it may be any consolation, it does work with Microsoft One Drive.

Any idea if its likely to be fixed, or is it time to look for another photo manager tool?

@RayP

Photo Manager has not been updated since about 2017, I believe and it seems it is now a legacy Magix product.

However, as to another photo manager tool you would need to do some very careful research before purchase. For your specific requirement (of linking to Google Photos) any software may, at some point in the future, lose the ability to link to Google Photos since Google quite regularly changes its connection protocols! (In its range of video editors, especially the most recent, Magix no longer provides a direct facility to upload to YouTube since again, Google keeps changing the connection protocol.)
