Online Content Catalog has disappeared again

Anne-Cobham wrote on 6/23/2022, 6:27 PM

Hey there. Once again, I've lost access to the Online Content Catalog. I've followed the instructions in the support FAQ and it didn't work (not surprising really, seeing as it was written in 2019). I'm running Windows 10 and I have Xara Web Designer Premium v.19. And yes, my Update Service is still active. Screenshot of the error message attached. I'm getting really tired of this - and I don't see why I should have to pay to renew my Update Service when it doesn't even work when it's active. EDITED to add: I'm getting a pop-up ad from Magix every time I open the program, trying to sell me something (priced in Euros!) that I have no interest in. I'm wondering if this pop-up ad is somehow blocking the Content Catalog?

Hi,

This was answered in your previous post. Read the replies after the one where you indicated that the problem was resolved? It was not resolved , and still has not been resolved, and we told what the problem was and still is.

Yes, I disabled my Norton as per the previous post but it hasn't made any difference this time. Raising support tickets to infoservice@magix.net do not yield any solutions. What a waste of time and money.

@Anne-Cobham

Hi,

Yes, I disabled my Norton as per the previous post but it hasn't made any difference this time.

No, that is not what I said. I said:

Pleased to see that it works, but it was not Norton. There is an intermittent problem with a server somewhere that causes this. I and others, have raised tickets on this. The workaround is to just keep trying. Sometimes I get in the first time, sometimes the second, sometimes the fifth.

You can always raise a ticket just to remind Magix/Xara that there is still a problem.

And, John E. Baker added:

The 504 error is the HTML error code for a Gateway Timeout Error - ie the web server didn't receive a response in time from another server upstream when it attempted to access the data being requested.

in this case it would have to be internal to the Magix servers, as when you access a web site, the request and data delivery can go through many servers and a very large number of different routes from the originator to and from the Magix gateway server(s) that has that data.

'Designs Gallery must be enabled. Switch it on from Utilities > Galleries menu'. But no switch on option? Not had this problem before?

@johndm

Hi John

. . . . But no switch on option? Not had this problem before? . . . .

Unfortunately, the solutions you have given are for a different issue.

@Anne-Cobham is getting an HTTP Error 504 which has already been explained in her previous post on the same issue.

Anne, is the Online catalogue back online for you?

John - my issue was also because I lost access to the Online Content Catalogue - a pop response when I tried to access gave me "'Designs Gallery must be enabled. Switch it on from Utilities > Galleries menu'." but that did not work. Matts reset from Window tab > Control Bars > Reset allowed me access to the Online Content Catalogue. Thus I shared it here.
