@Brooke-Nicholas

Hi

. . . . Photostory project is 44 minutes long (272 photos plus mp3 audio). It's coming in at 5.49GB . . . .

For a 44 minute long project the used disc space of 5.49 GB is too high for a DVD, however it is about right for a Blu-Ray disc.

In Timeline mode check that there is not a stray video/image/audio object past the 44 minute mark - pressing the End key on the keyboard should jump to the last object on the timeline

Assuming you selected the DVD disc option, a DVD can hold, approximately, a 2 hour long project using the default DVD settings.

However if you have changed any of the Encoder settings in the burn dialog, eg the Quality/ or bitrate setting - if this setting has been adjusted to the maximum, it will increase the disc space usage, however a more serious issue is that doing this can produce discs that will not be playable on some DVD players.

Also using MPEG-2 for encoding will result in higher disc space usage.
