I do got MMM 12 Deluxe and MMM 16 Premium.

When we upgrade Music Maker in some cases the newer version could not read older files Today I checked mine in MMM 16 Premium and saved arrangements worked fine, however some synthesizer did not work such as Voice synth, sample tank and sampler.

Therefore, answer to your question is in no, not automatically have to do manually. Only Synthesizer but not all saved arrangements, wave,ogg files can be used. I have noticed when I imported saved arrangements some instruments names were wrong in MMM 16 Premium, however when I checked in MMM 12 Deluxe everything was right.

So be ready not everything from older version will work.

Note: a friendly advice, if you want to use your music in commercial work then MMM 17 version got new license policy better read that. However older version of Music maker are Royalty free.

Important note: MMM 17 is still not 100% working, there are lot of complains, you can read a recent question
