Muisc Maker Crashes when trying to record audio - ASIO problems

GBrito wrote on 7/10/2011, 9:04 PM

I use Music Maker 17 premium, with a Line 6 midi controller. It works weel until i try to record audio. It lets me record and afterwards it just ceashes (traditional  operation).

Afterwards it says it can't load the ASIO drivers.

I've updated the drivers, to no effect. Any ideas? Cheers.

Hardware incompatibility?

Are you using the ASIOforALL?

I haven't had a Line 6 product since the POD Guitar Port... back when Windows XP was the new operating system from Windows.

I haven't had crashes with the Music Maker and recording audio, but I am just using the integrated sound chip to process vocal recordings or a USB mic. Both seem to work flawlessly in that regard. That is why I want to say its some sort of hardware incompatibility.

Perhaps the hardware is making a call for an out of sort use of a driver set that Music Maker is not using, thus, a communication error.

Does this only happen after you use the MIDI controller?

Can you record audio separately without a crash?

Hi John, thank you for the reply. I use this http://line6.com/toneportkb37/

There is no need for ASIO4all i think.

It works perfectly with every other software :(

I need to use this because of the amp modulation software attached to it... I've tried repair MMM also.

How is it connected?

If I owned it and wanted to record audio, I would take the stereo outs into the line-in of the sound device I am using. this way I record line level. This way I use the drivers for the sound card for recording which could be WDM versus ASIO.

I didn't see much on how the device connects to the PC.

To me it sounds like the signal goes into the Line 6, is sent to the computer, processed by the amp software from Line-6, sent back to the Line 6 port, then sent again to the recording software. I am not sure how they support it or how it is supposed to work with Ableton... which they state came with the package. If so, that might have some built in support driver for processing the this aux send like procedure. Music Maker does not have aux send capabilities like its cousin Samplitude Producer. I am not sure that is the "cause"... as I have used Music Maker to record from a multitude of devices, but again I am going source direct to sound card not through a virtual process then to sound card.

Have you check with Line 6?

Well, the line 6 device is basically an semi-professional external sound card that connects via USB, and that's one thing i love about it. Everything happens in it's rear, and there's only one usb cable going to the PC, thus the driver requirement.

Will check with Line 6.

Do you know of any good alternative to Music Maker, you know, with all the drum samples, bass, brass, vsts and all.

I like not having to build the patterns from scratch, but instead just edit the ones on MM.

Let me know :)
