MSP12 not opening now after a long time unused

Recently had to open an old project, and the program will not open,
message says "MS has stopped working".
uninstalled and reinstalled, registered serial again.. same problem.
downloaded again from MAGIX, repeated above, same problem.
Clicked the link from sony for update (posted April 11, 2013) - but that was '404'

it is version "moviestudiope12.0.896" same as that on my installation CD.
Help!! anyone able to assist.?

Well, I did download the program again from the Magix support site, so I asumed here would be the right place.!! I've been confused where is 'the right place' to go ever since the change of ownership.

Anyway I have sorted the issue out thanks to a thread here {https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/updates-for-movie-studio-platinum-12--103953/}

which mentioned that a Quicktime install would screw up MSP12.

@Clive-Delves Good glad you're sorted, you're not the only one to get mixed up, Vegas Movie Studio & Magix Movie Studio are two totally different programs & one is not an upgrade from the other, but Magix are playing a little bit of slight of hand with the upgrade offers, there's been quite a few people who come on here thinking they've upgraded from Vegas Movie Studio to the newest version only to find it's a totally different program,
