MS2024 Load audio editor

Roberto-Goncalves wrote on 3/26/2024, 8:53 AM

Hi

In the settings program, the audio editor (MusicEditor.exe) is defined.
On page 79 of the manual there is an option to Edit wave externally.
But I can't find a shortcut in the menus in the Audio object effects section to load the audio externally.
Where do I find?

Thanks

Hi

Right click the audio part of the video or audio object - if it is editable you will see the option - see this tutorial for more information

I found it in the main menu under submenu, but it is disabled. How do I enable?

Hi

Video and audio must be on separate tracks - use Ctrl+H to put the audio on the track below the video.

@johnebaker

ok! thanks!

From there it loads the audio editor.

But in the effects menu the submenu remains disabled.

Would you know why?
I don't remember but in version 2023 I think it was enough to select
the audio in the timeline, and activating said option with the right mouse button, it automatically loaded this editor.
In other words, it's simpler!

Roberto, you're in the "Video Effects" menu there.

@browj2 John's onto it. Wave (eg PCM) files only, not MP4 audio.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

Hi,

What you show in the image that Al is referring to, Effects, Video Object Effects, Edit in external editor is for an object - a photo, not a video. If an external image editor has been defined in the Program Settings, Folders, then it will open the image file for editing. Nothing to do with audio.

@browj2

ok!

Taking advantage of this image reference, have you or any other users upgraded/migrated to versions of Xara as an image editor (Photo & Graphic Designer after they left Magix)? I question because I am a user of version 18.
Now they offer it in version 20 (only lifetime option) https://www.xara.com/photo-graphic/v20/

a 30% discount for former Magix users (email request to matt@xara.com)
I don't know but I believe that the integration of this editor with MMS continues!

Hi Roberto,

I have no idea. I have Xara DPX 19 and am very reticent to go further without knowing if the interface with MMS/VPX still works (even as badly as it does).
