You're not the only one. The pointer-grabbing autobackup drives me insane. Nobody else complains about it so I thought it was just me but now you see it, I'll put in a bug report. It really is a menace sometimes.

Are you saying the program freezes for 5 -10 miutes when the auto save kicks in?

If so this is abnormal, the Autosave should take a few seconds at most. This is on my laptop

Check in Windows Settings, Accessibilty, Text Cursor that the Text cursor indicator is turned off.

John, I suspect Bill means the object that is now stuck to the mouse pointer is "flung" along the timeline 5 to 10 minutes.

If one is clicking on an object when the backup begins, the object then sticks to the mouse pointer, even when you let the button go, until you re-click. If you move the pointer, you take the object that has stuck to it with it.

My backup takes the same time as yours. The issue occurs if you have an object click+selected eg when preparing to drag it somewhere.

This, as Al describes it happens to me all the time.

Pressing Esc on the keyboard normally releases the stuck object from the cursor.

Thanks for the clarification - well I = (b/a) * pi * i * e / mu .

That is something I have never come across, and what is more I cannot replicate it as shown in your video.

I have tested on PC with a Logitech wireless mice (M185) a Microsoft USB and Logitech Marble Mouse USB devices and on my laptop with a Logitech Bluetooth (M350) and built in touchpad.

The only time I can get a similar effect is by turning on ClickLock in the mouse settings, the 'effect' occurs anytime with a longer, 2 sec plus press on the mouse button irrespective of the autosave.

Hi John.

I have never used the mouse click lock setting.

Currently all my mouse settings are as basic as can be.

This has been happening to me since I first used the first version of the program I bought and doesn't happen that often but it maybe because I use the mouse rather than keyboard shorts that I have suffered more.

I have Click Lock turned on & set for a very short time, it actually annoys me when it doesn't grab the object/s when i click & hold for a moment. That's prob why I've never complained about it, The auto save always seems to gets me as I get to this point when going to export, it clears the screen & I have to click File - Export movie ... again 😡🤦‍♂️😂

I find it preferable to have it turned on, I can still click on anything without grabbing it permanently, or I can click & hold for fraction of a second - drag - click again to drop. No need for keeping your finger pressed & having the potential of dropping it somewhere you don't want it to drop it.

no, what i am saying is that i think i dropped the object and i then move my mouse erratically so the object either zooms forward minutes or backwards minutes......just like if i had held the mouse button intentionally... no freezing

Yes sir. it's set to off I am using a second monitor so I cannot keep an eye on when the app does an update so I end up 20 minutes to an hour away or more from where I was editing, got so frustrating I went in and turned off auto updates. when i am done for the day i save my program as REV1, next day REV2 ...etc, while using the MS 2003 plat i save every 10 minutes or so.

Can you clarify what you mean by 'auto updates', the topic started off about the Auto save feature which cannot be turned off, however you can extend the interval to a maximum of 60 mins.
