Movie E P. Jumping back to the start. Ignoring playback marker

Movie Edit Pro 15.  Never had this problem before.  Started mid edit.  Cannot playback movie from the orange playback marker.  Every time, playback jumps to the start of the movie.  Have not set up any ranges that might confuse matters - only chapter markers.   Have tried things like 'reset range'.  Have tried saving the project, closing and reopening... Nothing works.  This is really slowing things down a lot as I need to frequently replay short sections to get video/music timing right.

HELP!!!

How about using these jump markers?

Mark your desired position of the playback marker by Upper Key 1, etc.
Clicking 1 will set the playback marker to position 1.

I tried jump markers but unfortunately that didn't help.  What I want to do (and what I've been doing successfully until a few hours ago!) is add stills positioned to coincide with emphases in the music.  This means adding a clip, trimming it and then replaying the last second or two to make sure it's synchronised.... and repeat... a lot!

What I've now found, however is that if I position the orange marker in the right spot and then press the {>} button marked 'play back range' I can get it to pick up OK.  But if I press the playback button > (which always worked in the past) it jumps back to the start of the movie.  Press {>} twice, however and I'm thrown to an earlier point in the movie... no idea why.

I like the Magix programme and I'm used to it... but there seem to be a few of these 'funnies' that crop up when you least expect them

I've had the same problem. The workaround doesn't always work but at least it's better than always having to play back from the beginning.

And now the workaround isn't working!!!  What is going on now?

I've solved the problem

Went to the end of the movie and opted for 'split movie'.  This put a range end } symbol at the end of the movie.  (It also created a second, mini-movie which could be seen in the 'record' view and deleted)

'Hey presto' the playback function worked as it always used to.
I think the problem arose because I deleted all the markers at one point.  This must have also removed the 'end of movie marker' somehow.

Bless you. I have been struggling with this for a couple of days! This is my first time using the program and while I'm usually pretty savvy with computers, I could not figure out what I was doing wrong!
