HI Greg

. . . . What I was trying to explain is that my phone take 16:7.33 ratio pictures and i wanted to convert them to 16:9  . . . .

Squashing or stretching images is not good practice, and is, as Al has commented, going to look awful especially if there are people or round objects in the image.

To fit an image into a different Aspect Ratio (AR) it should be cropped to the correct AR.

This can be done in a single step as @browj2 and @AAProds have commented, using Size Position & Rotation effect, increase the height to the same as the project setting, do not uncheck the Combine input fields.

This will enlarge the image vertically to remove the top/bottom black bars and equal sections of the left and right of the image will be outside the viewi area, you can use the Horizontal adjustment to tweak the 'crop' left/right if necessary

The crop is something that should be taken into account when taking the photograph, I have the same issue with my DSLR which takes 4:3 AR pictures.

A manual is a guide, to include detail of everything that the program could do would be a marathon read, for another video editor I have, the manual runs to nearly 600 pages and that does not explain everything.

Hi,

But the way I cannot decipher how to setup Panorama or SlideShow Maker is because in Help it is NOT properly explained...so reaching this forum to find the answers...

Valid comments. Looking at both, they look very old, but then so are the wizards/effects and could use a bit of a face-lift. I can see some holes, especially with the Slideshow Maker.

Slideshow Maker

I watched a video tutorial that someone did on Slideshow Maker a while back and even this has some holes and the person was not sure of what everything did, including why the music goes to track 5. But, it's not bad overall. I think that I can do better, but I have a tendency to go more into the details.

So, I went through everything and started writing up a tutorial. There is a lot in the wizard that needs explaining and I learned quite a few new tricks. If you want, I can put the Word file on Dropbox and you can go through it to see. Of course, it's still a work in progress and it needs images/video capture to go with it.

For anyone with a lot of time on their hands, they can create their own template in detail, with Intros/Outros and other elements that are not in any of the templates.

Create Panoramas

I think that between the manual and what is written on the screen in the Create Panorama window there is sufficient information to easily use the effect.

The only note that I would add would be that one has to take overlapping photos. This is usually covered in camera manuals.

The files should be selected in order from left to right but you can change the sequence in the effect window. I selected images 1, 3, 5,6,7,8 as I had created wide overlaps that were not needed. The wizard created my pan image just fine. The unused images were left on the timeline before the pan image.

Modifying camera movements is covered under SPR and/or Camera/Zoom shot.

What else is there that is not clear?

Hi Greg.

I tried cropping an image at random using the free custom option so that it did not have a standard ratio. This was to simulate a still or video that did not have a standard screen ratio.

Then opened up Movie Edit Studio 2022 and set a movie setting with a smaller resolution that the file I created.

Opened the project and dragged the image onto the timeline from Windows Explorer. The program then asked me if I wanted the program to adust the project to fit the image to which I clicked yes.

The result was a standard 16:9 ratio video with black bars top and bottom so the video looked correct and not stretched.

Any additional files then in theory should be imported with the same view and settings. If the program asks again if you want the program to adjust it's settings then just decline that option.

The way my brain works it seemed the simplest way to tackle the problem. It may not be a way some would tackle it but it works for me.

I ask myself why the program opens for some people at least with a 32 track default. You can't have less than 4 tracks the program won't allow it nor more then 200.

Could it be that is the not quite the the maximum view of all tracks minimised in a second monitor in a portrait orientation? For me that would be 35 tracks, not 32 but can't think of another reason when it is so easy to add tracks as needed. It also ensures no accidental placement of objects on tracks that may be forgotten about and placed beyond the project length. I seldom have more tracks in a project than I need.

Two monitor setup for projects using a lot of tracks.

Ray.

FWIW, I reckon that change from 16:7.333 to 16:9 is going to look awful.

well...on the humorous side - fat people look much slimmer with that conversion ...😁😆

Thank you guys for all your help, I really appreciate it.😊🍷 Slideshow Maker works now perfectly when I expanded timeline to 35 tracks.( although I am still confused what is the difference between Selected Range and Highlighted Range 🙂) There is NOTHING about it in Slideshow Help. Magix should have added that requirement.😠

Hi,

I am still confused what is the difference between Selected Range and Highlighted Range

A range is set with the blue bar above the timeline. Selecting multiple objects does not create a range.
