Markers dropped during record do not synch

I'm using Sound Forge pro 16. I have a Scarlett 2i2 (and a soundblaster ae-9; the issue happens on both). When I record, and drop markers with the insert marker button or using the 'M' key, they end up dropping later then I clicked them. The drift increases as the file goes on, by the 15 minute mark they can be 5-6 seconds off. I usually record with the "Focusrite USB ASIO" but the issue occurs with the any of the windows audio driver options as well. The system is more than powerful enough by a long shot that this isn't a system bottleneck. Using the same setup, this didn't happen in version 10 or 14. Any help or insight you may have is appreciated.

Windows 11 Home
Scarlett 2i2 Gen 1
Soundblaster Ae-9
Ryzen 7 5800
RTX 3050
32 MB RAM

What format file type are on the timeline? If there are of the lossy type (MP3, AAC, ect), enable "Always proxy compressed formats" in "Options> Preferences> General"

Otherwise, try experimenting with a different record buffer setting. "Options> Preferences> Audio.
"I do not have either a Scarlett or a SB interface to experiment with and I cannot duplicate the behavior on my PCs with the integrated RealTek card or an external USB using a Sound Devices recorder as an interface.

btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users community @Andrew-Shapiro.

Thanks for responding and the welcome! I'm recording in .wav 48/24. And I should have mentioned I've tried as lowest and highest buffer. As best I can tell it makes no difference.
