Loud Bursts of Static... Why?

I am getting random bursts of static when editing movies.  One of my movies I had a lot of audio clips, and after I record them with an external USB microphone, and listen to it, it would be fine.  Then I would record more, go back to the first one and there would be extremely loud bursts of static.  I chalked it up to too many audio clips at first.

Now I imported a movie from my VCR with no audio, and used the Soundtrack Maker.  Listening to it I'm getting the loud bursts of static.  What is the deal, this is an exteremely annoying problem.  Thanks in advance.

Is the audio clip in the timestamp showing a big wave picture? Try lowing the audio sound on the clip, also the Sound board that Magix has, be sure that the levels are not all the way up. If you look at the Audio FX box from the sound FX(Mixer), it shows the Compresser, EQ, etc.

Be sure that the gain is not all the way up, and that other settings are not making it go any louder.

Hope this helps :)
