My computer crashed and I lost all my Sony music files. We used Acid Pro. I believe it was 6 or 7. Is there a way to retrieve the serial number? To upgrade, do I now use Magix? We did download the trial and would upgrade, but I would love my old files back. too.

@Wendy-Laidlaw Sony transferred all registered users to Magix. So, technically you should be able to get your serial number and download link from your user account at https://www.magix.com/int/support/my-service-center/

It's a good idea to stay on ACID 7 because newer versions run unstable. Some users here prefer the old version 7.
If your old hard drive is still working, you should be able to access the files on it. For example, you could plug it into an external USB hard drive adapter, then it should work like an external hard drive. If the hard drive died completely your files are probably gone. Forensic recovery gets very expensive and is usually only affordable for companies.

I am appreciating that admins have started to see the harsh truth about Magix and are now seeing end users' pain. So yes, If you can, stay on version 7. Newer versions will make you lose interest in Acid altogether. People like myself know AP like our own smell and simply cannot find the same workflow in any other DAW. Same will happen to you if you upgrade. So stick to what works for you once your get your serials sorted out.

For some reason I thought you were a moderator/admin before and weren't any longer. Regardless, no one should buy any versions 8 thru 11. Thats the point.
