Jerky Video after encoding

saymite wrote on 8/15/2015, 10:20 AM

After trying to enconde a video .avi to .mp4 using quicksync  (1080p60) my final encoded file had some severe suttuter/jerking issues, I tried (1080p30) the same issues were still present.

From what I read on the forums I should enable Proxy files, but for some reason when I enable those my computer either frezzes or takes 15mins to make a proxy of a 25second clip.

I used the program with the with these settigns before and I got 10 videos with no Issues all 1080p60 one even 1440p60

Raw video (140Mb)

Rendered Video (20Mb)

Settings

My specs are:

Windows 8.1 64x

Video Pro X7

R9 280X 3GB GDDR5

i5 4670 3.5Ghz

16GB RAM  DDR3 1666Mhz

Asrock B85 Pro4 MotherBoard

1TB HDD WD Blue

Everything hardware related is up to date in drivers and working as inteded , any ideas what caused this issue?

Hi

. . . . From what I read on the forums I should enable Proxy files, but for some reason when I enable those my computer either frezzes or takes 15mins to make a proxy of a 25second clip. . . . .

Proxy files are for giving smoother playback in the preview monitor, particularly in lower spec computers - they have nothing to do with jerkiness in the final exported video.

What is the resolution and framrate of the source video - is this from the same source as the videos you had no issues with before?

If the framerates of source and final video are different or you are going from interlaced video to rogressive then you can expect some jerkiness when playing due to the change in framerate or conversion to progressive.

. . . . R9 280X 3GB GDDR5 . . . .

Is this a single or dual graphics card?

The resulotions and the framerate are the same (1080p60 to 1080p60) (1440p60 to 1440p60). Like all my videos before.

The R9 280X is a single card.

Hi

Thanks for the videos and settings image they help a great deal.

The rendered video is showing what look dropped frames during playback.

Try exporting again, however turn off the hardware acceleration in the export settings.  I suspect there is a conflict with the Intel integrated graphics and the AMD card - in theory plugging in an external card should turn off the integrated graphics card.

Without Hardware accelaration im left without Intel QuickSync , however the issue is still present it way less now, maybe 10-15 times in the whole 25 sec clip,

I took out my Video Card, Issue still present ...

Trying to use "calculate effects on GPU" also causes this issue.

If you mean Quicksync then that means the integrated graphics chip is doing the rendering when necessary and not the AMD card!

Which version of VPX are you using?

Do you have the option of using the Main Concept Codec?  The option may be in the programs settings.

Im using VPX7

These are the avalible codecs

And yes the Integrated card should be doing the workload with quicksync active its 2x the speed of my dedicated GPU.

Just finished rendering in .mpg , same issue :/

saymite wrote on 8/15/2015, 3:04 PM

I would like to thank johnebaker , for his help.

Altought the issue is not fixed I talked to the person who made the codec I use to record and he advised me to remux to .mp4 has some video edeting programs tend to dislike .avi , that fixed it for me.

Still I have no ideia what caused VPX to start this Issue

Thank you all!

Hi

For  VPX 6 in Programs Settings, System tab there is an option to select the preferred codec for import and export of H.264.

I would expect VPX 7 to be the same.

However there may be a fee for the Main Concept codec.

. . . . . advised me to remux to .mp4 . . . .

I suspect that the AVI file may have a variable framerate - neither of the programs I use for analysing video files show thet the AVI framerate mode is fixed as they do for your exported version, however they also do not confirm it is variable either

I assume you are using a screen capture program for the gameplay - does it allow any other file formats eg MOV or MP4 ?

I had those options enabled yes,

The .AVI file was at capped 60 however the enconded video inside the avi was variable, the exported version was locked both ways.

I am using dxtory and openencodevfw , Dxtory sadly only uses .avi but I think the codec can export to whatever format, If you have any suggestions on free/cheap software that accepts custom codecs  I'd be more than happy to hear them.

Hi

I suspected that was the case - it also occurs with some mobile phone video as well - VPX and MEP do not appear to handle variable framerate video very well.
