is there a way to split the screen so that there are two different videos playing like a phone conversation??

Yep, you can do that. You just go to effects>video selection of movement (I forgot but I will add onto this later) and you can crop and move the video to anywhere you want on the video monitor. You can even add several videos (I've tried 56 different videos once and it works!).
