Intel Graphics Driver Disabling Waking Up By Mouse/KB bump

Not strictly a on-subject topic but knowing you lot are hot on the latest drivers...

If you're recently developed trouble with your PC not waking up when you bump the mouse (it stays sleeping), it's probably the process "Intel Dynamic Application Loader Host Interface" that is causing the problem. If that is killed, the mouse wakes my machine from sleep. If that process is running, the machine won't wake to a mouse/KB bump.

It took me a while to figure out via a process of elimination (glad my machine restarts fast!) but I'm pretty sure that's it. Earlier intel drivers are OK (I have tried 31.0.101.4577 and that's fine). The one that's causing me grief is the current one, 5382.

I've reported it to Intel.

Thanks for the heads-up, what is the version number of the jhi_services.exe in

C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\dal.inf_amd64_b5484efd38adbe8d\jhi_service.exe

It appears to be the culprit and I suspect that yours is newer than mine which is 1.41.2021.12 and no issues.

The plot thickens; after I was sure I had it worked out, taking out the application loader file, the problem started again. In the end, I ended every Intel process, leaving only the driver:

and it was still doing it, so I rolled back to 5085 and all is well.

Andy/John, are you on the latest driver (5382)? Your jhi_service file is the same as mine (I'm now on the 5085 driver).

I have the same jhi_service as you but my driver is 5333. Everything fine at my end. Rule of thumb; If it isn't broken, don't try and fix it.🔧

Yep, this is a good example of that! 😂

This only started a couple of weeks or so ago, so it must be the version after 5333: either 5379 or 5382.

Just had a thought Al, do you use a USB mouse / keyboard?

If so maybe Windows is suspending USB in your power settings - I access them from the old style Control Panel, the new fangled Windows way I find slightly confusing.

II've disabled USB suspend since Windows 10 as it was preventing my PCTV stick from timer recording. That's probably why my USB M&K wake my computer.

I am on the latest for my iGPU - 2127 dated 1/2/2024, there was a suggestion in some forums that there was an issue with the jsi_services file, hence ny question on the version number.

Hmm, this is getting a bit like what my dear departed mother used to say "teaching your grandmother to suck eggs" - did people really do that?

Anyway, have you tried this, device manager / mice and other pointing devices / properties?

Another thought as you mentioned this waking problem was recent.

I mentioned in a different topic Windows update KB5035853 has given some people a headache for various reasons. Apparently the latest KB5035942 has fixed a lot of these headaches; it cured the problems my wife's laptop had with KB5035853.

The telling thing, I think, is that when I roll back the Intel driver, the problem goes away. As soon as I reinstall the latest driver, it recurs.
