Installation of Upgrade to Photostory 2023

Ian52 wrote on 11/6/2022, 3:28 AM

I have just purchased an upgrade from Photostory 2022 to 2023. I have downloaded the small installation file. When I double click it, I accept that it can make changes to my PC (running Windows 11 Pro on a 64 bit machine), and a grey 'clock'-like icon appears for a second, disappears and nothing then happens. Has anyone else had issues?

@Ian52

Hi

The small download you have is the Installations Manager which will download and install the program.

If you are using Microsoft Edge, there is a known 'issue'. Try another web browser eg Firefox.

If that does not work then check that your Antivirus/Firewall is not blocking the Installation Manager from acessing the Internet.

John,

Thanks for your quick response.

I have allowed the installation manager to access the internet using the Firewall Manager; I have even disabled the Firewall. Neither seems to help.

The Installation manager downloaded fine on either Edge or Chrome. The problem is nothing much happens when I double-click it.

John

The small installer programme downloaded without a problem. The issue arises when double-clicking the installer programme. Basically, a small grey clock-like icon appears and disappears within seconds.

I have tried the following: allowing the installer through the Firewall; disabling my anti-malware programme (Malwarebytes); disabling my anti-virus software. None of that helps. In any case, I would expect these to notify me if there was an issue, and nothing shows up.

Kind Regards

Ian

Same issue with I. Not a downloading issue for I. I get the package, it downloads the required files, it starts the install and then forever hangs. Looking in the task manager, the installer is there, doing nothing, no CPU activity at all. This appeared after November's Patch Tuesday hence something fundamentally changed.

It started with being unable to install Photostory 365 update. I removed Photostory, fresh install failed. I have two computers, tried the other one, same issue. The similarity between the computers is they are both Windows 11.
