Hi,  Magix Movie Studio 2024 is not an upgrade from Vegas Movie Studio 15 & never has been, it is a completely different program, the correct upgrade would be to Vegas Pro21

You can download the Trial of Vegas Pro here if you want  https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/gb/vegas-pro/

This is the Vegas Pro 21 interface which should look similar to your Movie Studio 15 & will defiantly have the Import Image Sequence option.

-----------

There is no option to import an image sequence in Magix Movie Studio 2024, the best you could do would be to drag the files in from your folder.

Hi

As @Gid has commented Movie Studio is a different program from the old Vegas version

To add a sequence, continuous or random, of images or video clips to the timeline, select all those you want to import, see short video below. You can also do the same using Windows File Explorer and drag the files to the timeline.

@johnebaker Hi, forgive me if/as you know this, in both Vegas & MMS when a sequence is dragged in the images are at the set picture length. In Vegas when a sequence is imported it's brought in as a video file, ie. 1picture = 1 frame.

This is 99 images = 3.10 (3sec.10fr) clip at 29.97fps

-------------------------

I forgot to add to my comment earlier that the images if dragged in in both Vegas & MMS would have to be changed to 1fr in length. 😉

@Gid

Hi Gid

. . . . forgive me if/as you know this, . . . .

Good question - it is a long time, 15+ yrs, since I used Vegas to import sequences!

IIRC, they had to be sequentially numbered ie the name suffix ending in 001,002 etc and in their own folder with no other images.

I just tested,with Vegas 19, some of my recent time-lapse sequences, consisting of between 650 and 900 images from my Sony camera, and at least the suffix is irrelevant .

OT: my DJI Action 3 automatically creates a video file in camera of the time-lapse images - saves a lot of hassle and storage space.

. . . . the images if dragged in in both Vegas & MMS would have to be changed to 1fr in length. . . .

VPX had an option, when importing a sequence of images, to bring them in as one object, I never used this option, preferring to change the Import image length to 1 frame in program settings and then drag and drop.

Do you get the prompt in VPX 14?

@browj2

Hi John

Can you check if VPX 16 prompts to import as a 'single object' - mine does not offer the option? I may be missing a step on testing.

@johnebaker From my experience yes it needs the suffix, other software like Particle Illusion, Silhouette & Mocha do need it to use sequences. I just tried it in Vegas on a bunch of random pictures with different names & I wasn't given the Open Sequence option, If they all have the same name with (1), (2) etc. at the end it still won't give the Open Sequence option but if I add 001, 002 etc. to the end it does give the option, this of course is unwatchable with different images flicking on screen 1 frame each 🙈😂

VPX14 I'l have a look but @browj2 would be better to answer that, I rarely open it but will have a look later. .

@johnebaker

Hi John EB,

Can you check if VPX 16 prompts to import as a 'single object' - mine does not offer the option? I may be missing a step on testing.

For me, this only happens when using Windows Explorer to drag and drop many selected images. Here is the option:

Selecting yes just creates a second Movie, imports all images at the currently selected Standard picture length as per Program Settings, and then puts that Movie as a single nested object on the timeline of the other Movie. Thus, no single object file is created.

For importing single images that are to be single frames, the Program Settings either has to be changed prior to importing, or, whether done as above or not, right-click the first image in the Movie with the imported images, Change photo length, set it to 1 frame, apply to all. The nested object is automatically updated in the main Movie.

Effects can by applied to the nested object as though it were a video clip.

Hi John

Thanks for testing - I was doing the import with the time-lapse sequences I mention previously and not getting any message.

Additionally, the popup reads to me, if you click Yes the result should be what Vegas does each image imported as 1 frame long.

Now if I could find a camera that does the same as my DJI sportscam that would be perfect.

Thank you for this response. Of course this is a bit of a disappointment, I'm not going to upgrade to a more expensive program just to get that option back, fortunately I've found an alternative. If I import those images and then reduce the length of those images I can play back those images on the timeline and create a movie from them as they were intended. Also, just a bit more information about what I'm doing. I have a 3D program where I create animations, the program renders one image at a time and then I compile them into a movie, sorta like the old book where you flip the images to create a moving animation. Thanks again for all your help, the support has been awesome!
