If x then y programming

I wish to introduce to my site a button that will oblige users to visit - I realise I can't force them to read! - my terms. I believe that's called if x then y programming. I'd like to make progress through the site conditional upon the user doing this but failing that Is there a simple way I use a device like the cookies banner to record the user's action in visiting the terms page? I am using Web Designer Premium 17 but if it's necessary I have v18 also. Thanks in advance.

@david-howells

Hi

. . . . to my site a button that will oblige users to visit . . . .

This is a not necessary as there is no way for you to 'record' the viewers agreement to the Terms & Conditions, which may break GDPR and other countries similar regulations on data protection, and for the viewer it is not a good user experience and could drive viewers/customers away.

The most common practice is to have links to the T&C and a Data Protection statement, at the bottom of every web page - if they do not read them, then that is their problem. In general by continuing to view the website they are deemed to have agreed to the T&C.

There are many examples of T&C and articles on Data protection on the Internet detailing what you need to do to meet Legal and GDPR/data protection requirements, you may also need to run them by a legal professional.
