Not all cameras can nor will be recognisable to a program from any manufacturer. You have connected via firewire with no joy? If you are using Win7 sometimes you need to regress, i.e. use an older driver for the firewire card IEEE Bus Controller.   You can do that in Device Manager and choose the older driver OHCI-conform 1394-Hostcontroller (old).  That may do it.  

Try to capture using the original software included with the camera, if you've still got it and save to disc. Then create a project in the program using existing files on your computer and load these files. Worth a try. Cheers, M o' L.
