I'm recording elec/acoustic guitar and mics through a Behringer mixer and Presonus Audiobox USB. I keep getting random electrical 'pops' during recording. No pattern for occurance. Any thoughts?

Can't hear it pop during recording, but can see it spike on the on-screen meter, and hear it loud and clear during playback.  Like an electrical shock sound - but there are no external static problems.  Occurs during hi and low recording levels, so not clipping related.

check to see if anything other than your recording equipment is running on the same electrical line like a fridge or air conditioner. something that turns on and off automatic. if so, you want your studio on a line by itself. also, check your instrument and mic cables, may have a small short in it. are you getting the spike on just the track you record? one more thing, if you are performing while recording (dancing, jumping, moving around, holding the mic while recording) stop. a lot of recording equipment is very sensitive to movement and vibration. hope this helps.

My name is Michael. I like a lot of styles of music. Played with different types of bands. But its the music in the soul that I value most. I'm not a great guitar player but I try to create a good sound that would take you on a short ride away. You can come back when you are ready. Thank you for listening. And call me Mike.
