I just lost several hours worth of work, is there anything I can do to get it back?

I had about 200 bars of stuff, but the program started making weird noises so I thought I'd reset it. This didn't fix anything. I worked on it for a little longer then when I tried to save the program crashed altogether. When I try to reopen the file I was working on, it just says it can't read it (even though the format hasn't changed). Is there anything I can do to get Music Maker 15 to read the file again?

there should be a back-up file of your arrangement (.bak)... if you change it into an Musicmaker Arrangement File (.mmm) by changing its ending (.bak ---> .mmm) you should be able to work with it...

but it's the status before the last saving...

of course... you need to chose the latest back-up

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I got most (if not all) of it back. I was almost certain it was gone.

Hi

The general rule is Save regularly as you go along.  With a project this big I would save as a different version at regular intervals.

It froze while I was saving, that's the thing. I hit ctrl+s and it crashed, and refused to open up again.

Hi

That's a disaster, hence why I save multiple versions as work progresses - most of my stuff is up to 48-52 bars and usually about 4 - 8 instruments/tracks so is fairly light stuff!.

Is the project able to be split up into smaller sections as individual projects and then combined together at the end?

What is the final product - an audio cd or, for example, the sound track of a movie?
