I get an error code 'Cannot find the device "Windows" (No.1234567890) with the "" file in any of your devices.

The following error code occurs whilst trying to select to play a song held on the hard drive of my PC.  The CD with the song was imported into the hard drive using the MP3 deluxe MX software. The songs play normally with other audio software, e.g. VLC.

Magix MP3 delux MX version 18.03

PC Win 8.1

I don't have this software but it sounds like its looking at wrong drives .

There should be a menu inside the software to specify path for drives .

Thanks, CoolSpot2.

I have looked at all the menus and options but cannot see that there is a selection to be made for a drive.  Th software shows the files and paths, can select a track from one of the music files or a playlist but comes up with this message for the track it is ready to play when I click on the Play button.  Maybe it is an incompatability with Windows 8.1.

Hi

I suspect the software is looking for the original CD to be in the in the drive.

Did you close down MP3 Maker before removing the disc from the disc drive?

John

Thanks, johnebaker.  That is probably what has happened.  I was digitising my CD collection so I did not close down the application after conversion to MP3.  That sounds like a deficiency in the software. I'll try and confirm your theory tomorrow (it's getting a bit late tonight!)

david.dawson wrote on 3/31/2014, 5:41 PM

Thanks, Coolspot.  There doesn't seem to be any way of specifying the drive post conversion.  I am opening the playlist from the drive where the MP3 is located and the directory structure is shown in the application, so one would assume that that is where the software should be looking for the file - see screenshot below

I have found the file-path options and changed them to point at my music and playlists, but the problem is still there.
