I can’t get keyboard sounds or VST to record into Samplitude 2013, even though I've read so many forum answers.  Below is a detailed description of how I have set up the settings and the problem::

• I plugged the MID cables in the back of the Ensoniq SQ1 Keyboard using MIDI IN & OUT (not thru), which then goes into the USB port of my laptop.
• I set the SQ1 Keyboard settings to “MIDI” and on “Channel 7.”
• I set the Driver system to ASIO and chose ASIO Device as “ASIO4ALL v2.”
• I set Samplitude to “All Channels on tracks.
• In Samplitude, I changed the Monitoring Setup to “Software Monitoring.”
• In Samplitude settings, I unchecked “MIDI Thru” box.
• The Recording Device listed in the “Audio Devices” only shows “ASIO4ALL v2 In (1+2).”
• In setup “VST/Directx/REWIRE,” the “Activate Rewire” is checked but every time I open Samplitude, I get the message “Unable to open Rewire subsystem, error: 100.”
• However, in MIDI Setup, the “Global Recording Device” is dimmed with a blank box, but the “Global Playback Device” is “GS Wavetable Synth.” In the track Audio Options” it has ASIO4ALL v2 In (1+2) as the “Global Play Device.”
• I created a MIDI track and then below it I created an audio track. I turned on the monitor button of the audio track.
• The settings on the first MIDI track for “IN” is “USB 2.0 – MIDI,” and OUT is “Microsoft GS Wave.”  The next track is Audio in which “IN” is 1+2 VISTI,” and OUT only has the “STMAST” choice.
• I routed to set to Mult Channel (with checked boxes om “Stereo/Mono” & “Audio/MIDI” combined”—I also tried separate).
• In track “Record Options” it has ASIO4ALL v2 In (1+2) as the “Record Device and File Path.”
• After all these setting, I am unable to get any sound, except I can get VITA strings sounds, if I use my mouse to play on the little VST Editor keyboard (but that won’t even record either). But once I did get sound from the keyboard when I hit the record button on the MIDI track-but could not get sound again).
