How to use WebSite Maker in https

tibor.szaraz wrote on 2/5/2014, 9:13 AM

Hi,

we would like to use https instead of http in WebSite Maker from a remote hosting system.

SSL Certification is available, but it displays empty pages. I use javascript to display the screen, as recommended, but seems that it didn't work. (http worked perfectly)

See

https://www.tpmc.hu

I modified every http: to https: in the javascript and the page is displayed.

Only problem is that html widged simply doesn't sork in https mode.

any idea?

Hi

. . . . Only problem is that html widged simply doesn't sork in https mode . . .

Which html widget does not work?

Looking at the site I cannot see any reason why you need to use https.

The only time you would use it is if you are going to add ecommerce, an online store or customer / client pages etc which need to be secure.

In which case only the login pages and the ecommerce, an online store or customer / client pages etc need to be deliverd by https.

Hi,

Which html widget does not work?

Html widget can be used to write direct html code, like facebook likes, embedded php etc. If you check with http and https you will see that like facebook box left bottom is not displayed in https, as this is used by the http widget.

A simple text also not displayed in https mode with http widget, so it is some "security" problem somewhere in http widget that I can not descover.

ps.

We use https as we develop facebook app, and we will handle logged on user data etc. (for Crowd testing user can logon to our site through many different ways)

Hi

If you look at the HTML code being generated for the https site you will find that the widget code is

<iframe id="widget_2au6dn106m9". . . . . . .src="http://www.magix-website.com/website/loadfile; . . . . "

The mixing https and http in this way is poor practice.

During the browsing session you end up with 2 session cookies, one for https and the other for http.

This creates 2 data channels, one secure and the other unsecure.  The main page is coming from the secure channel (https), the http data is from the unsecure channel is not being displayed because it is not 'trusted' by the browser.

Hi,

absolutely right!

http://www.magix-website.com/website/loadfile;

this brokens up the https, but the only question, how to avoid it, as this is generated by Magix Webmaker! And top of them https dosn't work, if you copy and paste the url: http works, https not.

Other think is that http://www.magix-online.com AND https://www.magix-online.com redirectiong to http://www.magix-online.com ... Seems that this html widget using only http ... This is the problem and basically bug.

The support is in deep silent :)

Hi

Please do resurrect old posts - if you have an issue please create a new post.

In you case we need more information:

Where is the website hosted?

Does the hosting provider include SSL capability?

Please reply as a new post with more details on the problem and answers to the above.

How can I make my website secure (SSL) and add the 's' to my http address? My website is hosted by Magix and registered to a UK address.

@lynnedaisy2003

You have resurrected a thread first begun in 2014. A previous poster was asked to start a new thread with details of his/her question; please do the same!
